RACER FAN JAM IS TONIGHT

There will be free give-a-ways and an autograph session will also be held. Schedule posters and schedule cards will also be available. Fan Jam gets underway tonight at 7.

MSU VOLLEYBALL AT SEMO TONIGHT
After having the weekend off, the Murray State volleyball team returns to the road for a match against Southeast Missouri tonight at 7. The match away from Racer Arena is one of just three road contests left this season. It will also be the second time that the Racers (10-11, 7-4 Ohio Valley Conference) and the Redhawks have battled each other in the past 11 days, as SEMO came to Murray, Oct. 17 and MSU earned a 3-0 victory.

RACERS GETTING READY FOR EIU
After a week off, the Racer football team returns to action Saturday when they visit Eastern Illinois.  With four games remaining, the Racers are very much in the thick of the OVC title chase, just a game behind one-loss teams, Tennessee State, UT-Martin, and Eastern Kentucky.  The Racer will play Saturday's game without the services of DL Danny Blakemore.  He continues to recover from an ankle injury, but he is expected to be back for the SEMO game the following week.

TWO FOOTBALL GAMES MOVED TO THURSDAY
This week’s Mayfield-Marshall County football game has been rescheduled for Thursday night to avoid a conflict with Halloween-related activities on Friday night. Lone Oak and Fulton City will also play on Thursday night. Both local teams will play Friday despite Halloween. Calloway County hosts Fulton County on senior night at Jack Rose Stadium. Murray High closes out the regular season at Owensboro Catholic. Both the Tigers and Lakers have secured first round home playoff games.

THINGS GO WRONG FOR WRIGHT
Louisville center Chauntise Wright will miss the entire 2008-09 season after injuring her right knee in practice over the weekend. Coach Jeff Walz says Wright, a senior, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee and will have surgery in the next few weeks. Wright was third on the team in scoring last year, averaging 11.4 points to go with 5.0 rebounds per game. She scored in double figures in all three of Louisville's NCAA tournament games. Wright will redshirt this season, and Walz said he expects her to return next fall.

GAME TIME SET FOR UL-PITT GAME

UTM'S HUDSON A MID-MAJOR ALL AMERICAN
UT Martin senior guard Lester Hudson has been named to CollegeHoops.net First Team Mid-Major All-America team. Hudson joins Davidson's Stephen Curry; Saint Mary's Patrick Mills; Butler's Matt Howard and Saint Mary's Diamon Simpson. Hudson, who was also named the Ohio Valley Conference 2008-09 Preseason Player of the Year, arguably had the greatest single season in the history of the UT Martin basketball program in 2007-08. The 6-2, 190-pound Memphis native finished his first NCAA season ranked in the Top 10 nationally in points per game, steals, and 3-pointers made per game. Hudson also became the first Division I men's basketball player to record a quadruple-double in a game when he put up a line of 25 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals in UT Martin's 116-74 win over Central Baptist on Nov. 13.

BOWLING GREEN NAMES ITS MINOR LEAGUE TEAM
Bowling Green's new minor league baseball team now has a name. There were thousands of suggestions, but officials selected Hot Rods as the teams name. The team also revealed its colors of black, yellow, red and silver. The team begins play in the South Atlantic League in early April.

NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT

World Series (Best-of-seven)
----------------------------
With the rain intensifying at Citizens Bank Park, the Rays rallied to tie the
Phillies in Game 5 of the World Series, putting Philadelphia's championship on
hold until at least Tuesday. Carlos Pena, who had been held without a hit in
the first four games, doubled and scored in the fourth inning, and delivered
the tying RBI single in the sixth, lifting Tampa Bay to a 2-2 tie before the
tarp covered the field prior to the bottom of the sixth. A short time later,
Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig announced the game would be
suspended until there are proper playing conditions, whether that's Tuesday or
Wednesday. The Phillies are up 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. A win would
not only give the Phillies just their second-ever title and first since 1980,
but it would also give the City of Brotherly Love its first championship of
any kind since 1983, when the 76ers beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA
championship. There has never been a rain-shortened game in the history of the
World Series. The rain wasn't expected to let up the rest of the night and the
forecast for Tuesday calls for more wet weather with cold, very windy
conditions. Shane Victorino's two-run single in the first frame provided
Philadelphia with the lead on a wet night with temperatures diving through the
40s, but instead of closing it out Monday the Phillies find themselves in a
dogfight and in a waiting pattern. The game will be suspended from the point
where it left off, with the Phillies coming to bat in the bottom of the sixth.
Two years ago, MLB changed its rules on suspended games, moving to resume play
rather than replay the entire game in the case of a tied contest. Selig said
if the Phillies were ahead, he would not have let them win a rain- shortened
game. Airtime for fonight's resumed game 5 is 7pm on 1340 WNBS.

National Football League
------------------------
Chris Johnson and LenDale White combined for three rushing touchdowns and 90
yards, as the Tennessee Titans stayed perfect with a 31-21 win over the
Indianapolis Colts in an AFC South battle. Kerry Collins threw for 193 yards
on 24-of-37 passing, without a touchdown or interception, for the Titans
(7-0), who have won the first seven games of the season for the first time in
franchise history. Dating back to December 16 of last season, Tennessee has 10
consecutive regular season wins, the longest current streak in the NFL. Rob
Bironas added three field goals for the Titans. Peyton Manning threw for 223
yards and two scores on 26-of-41 passing, but was intercepted twice for the
Colts (3-4), who have lost two in a row and are tied with Jacksonville and
Houston at the bottom of the division. Indianapolis has won the outright AFC
South crown every year since 2004, but missed out on a chance Monday night to
get back in the division race. Dallas Clark caught both TD passes from Manning
in a seven-reception, 94-yard effort, as Indianapolis had a streak of eight
consecutive Monday night wins snapped. Dominic Rhodes ran for 70 yards on 17
attempts in place of Joseph Addai, who sat out with a hamstring injury.

National Hockey League

----------------------
Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg each scored in the shootout as the Detroit
Red Wings came from behind to take a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Zetterberg, Valtteri Filppula and Marian Hossa each scored in regulation for
the Red Wings, who have won five in a row -- including back-to-back shootouts.
Detroit topped Chicago, 6-5, on Saturday.

Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has reportedly been charged with simple
assault for allegedly spitting his drink in a woman's face during an
altercation at a nightclub on October 10. A police spokesman told a Kansas
City newspaper that Johnson turned himself in Monday, paid a $500 bond and was
released. The 24-year-old woman reported that the 2003 first-round pick
threatened to kill her boyfriend before spitting in her face. After leaving
the bar, she stated that Johnson attempted to spit on her again as he was
being escorted out. Johnson issued an apology last week for his actions and
was benched for a second consecutive week. Johnson has already faced three
charges for assaulting a woman since he came to the Chiefs. In 2003 Johnson
was accused of aggravated assault and misdemeanor domestic battery for waving
a gun at his ex-girlfriend, but the charges were dropped when he entered a
domestic- violence program. In 2005, Johnson was accused of pushing a woman
to the ground at another KC nightspot, but the charges were later dropped.
The latest incident occurred less than a week after word surfaced that
Johnson was facing a simple assault charge for pushing a woman at a Kansas
City nightclub. Johnson faces a December court date in that case, which took
place February 24 of this year.

Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor underwent another medical procedure on his
ailing calf Monday, and is not expected to play in next week's Monday night
showdown with the Steelers, Washington head coach Jim Zorn announced. Taylor,
34, went to a local hospital Friday to have the calf re-examined and the
procedure was deemed necessary to "wash out" the injury. Washington has its
bye week following the Pittsburgh game and Zorn said the extra week of rest
will help eliminate any kind of swelling. The six-time Pro Bowl selection
originally suffered the injury during Washington's 24-17 victory over the
Arizona Cardinals on September 21. He underwent surgery the next day, causing
the 6-foot-6, 244-pound Taylor to miss two games. He returned to the field the
last three weeks in a limited capacity.

The San Francisco 49ers named Shaun Hill the team's starting quarterback for
its November 10th matchup against the Cardinals in Arizona. Hill unseats J.T.
O'Sullivan, who started each of San Francisco's first eight games as the club
went 2-6. New 49ers head coach Mike Singletary, who stepped in for the fired
Mike Nolan last Tuesday, made the announcement on Monday. O'Sullivan, in his
first stretch as starter, completed 128-of-219 passes for 1,678 yards and
eight touchdowns, with 11 interceptions. O'Sullivan also fumbled 11 times and
lost six. Hill played in three games for the 49ers last season, starting two,
and was 54-for-79 passing for 501 yards and five touchdowns, with only one
pick. Hill saw action in this past Sunday's 34-13 loss to Seattle, and
completed 15-of-23 throws for 173 yards with one TD. San Francisco has a bye
this upcoming weekend before heading to Arizona.

=== COLLEGE FOOTBALL ===

Tyrone Willingham will step down as head football coach of the Washington
Huskies at the end of the season. The announcement at a Monday press
conference comes with the Huskies losing their first seven games this season.
Washington is 11-32 on Willingham's watch, which includes a 6-24 mark in the
Pac-10. Willingham indicated in the press conference that the decision was not
his and that he never considered resigning, saying "it's just not in my
makeup." Willingham has five games remaining in this his fourth and final
season as head coach, including a date this Saturday against the seventh-
ranked USC Trojans. Willingham has compiled a 76-83-1 record as a head coach
with Stanford (1994-2001), Notre Dame (2002-2004), and Washington.

=== NBA ===

The Boston Celtics will raise their 17th championship banner to the rafters
Tuesday night when they host LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers as the
NBA season gets underway. The Celtics, highlighted by the big three of Paul
Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, will get their championship rings, more
than four months after beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. There
are two other games on Tuesday, including the Chicago Bulls, with top overall
draft pick Derrick Rose, hosting the Bucks. Milwaukee is coached by
former Bulls coach Scott Skiles, while Vinny Del Negro makes his debut on
the bench for the Bulls. Kobe Bryant, the league's reigning MVP, will take the
court for the Lakers in a home game against the Trail Blazers. It will mark
the regular season debut for Portland's Greg Oden, last year's No.1 draft
pick who missed the entire 2007-08 season after undergoing microfracture
surgery on his right knee.
