It took overtime, but Greenwood edged Marshall County 3-2 at last night's girls sectional in Draffenville, and earned a spot in the state final four at Georgetown. They will play Sacred Heart next week, while Woodford County faces Highlands in the other semifinal at Georgetown. Heath plays at Henderson County tonight in one of four boys sectionals.

Tigers head coach Steve Duncan says don't be fooled by that record, this is a good team. The Tigers have wrapped up a first round home game November 14 against Hancock County.  Airtime tomorrow night is at 7 with Jeremy Bell and Travis Turner on 1340 WNBS.

O-LINE INJURIES HURTING EIU
In a wide open OVC title chase, Murray State hits the road to play Eastern Illinois, a team that has 3 conference losses and is looking to play the role of spoiler. Usually the Panthers are winning or contending for a title, but head coach Bob Spoo says the reasons for his team's lack of success are injury related along the offensive line. The Racers enter the game very healthy for this time of year. Among players who play significantly, only lineman Danny Blakemore is expected to miss the game. Airtime is 1pm Saturday, with kickoff at 1:30 on Froggy and 1340 WNBS. You can also year the College Football game of the week at 6:30 Saturday night as top-ranked Texas visits number six Texas Tech.

WYCHECK IS A HOF NOMINEE
Former Tennessee Titans tight end and Titans Radio's color commentator Frank Wycheck has been named a nominee for the 2009 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Wycheck retired following the 2003 season, finishing his 11-year NFL career with 505 catches, fourth most in NFL history by a tight end, and he finished his career as one of only five tight ends to surpass 500 receptions in NFL history (the others being Shannon Sharpe, Ozzie Newsome, Kellen Winslow, and Tony Gonzalez). Along with Wycheck, Titans owner Bud Adams made the list once again as a key contributer, a list that also included former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Jerry Jones, Art Modell and Ralph Wilson.

It took two extra nights, but the Phillies have finally put an end to
Philadelphia's 25-year major sports title drought. Eric Bruntlett scored on a
Pedro Feliz single in the seventh inning and the Phillies beat Tampa Bay, 4-3,
in Game 5 of the World Series, wrapping up the franchise's second title in
history. Rocco Baldelli's homer tied the game in the top of the seventh, but
the Rays couldn't go ahead as Chase Utley threw out Jason Bartlett at the
plate to end the frame. The Phillies then went in front in the bottom half of
a game that had been halted by rain tied, 2-2, Monday night after 5 1/2
innings. Wintry conditions forced a postponement for an extra day, but under
cold, windy conditions Wednesday, the Phillies warmed up their fans quickly
and sent the City of Brotherly Love into pandemonium. The 4-1 series victory
gave Philadelphia its first championship of any kind since 1983, when the
76ers beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA title. The Phillies' other World
Series championship came in 1980. Brad Lidge, who didn't blow a save the
entire year, locked down the win in the ninth, but not before the Rays had the
tying run in scoring position. Evan Longoria popped out before Dioner Navarro
broke his bat on a base hit to right field. Pinch-runner Fernando Perez stole
second base, but pinch-hitter Ben Zobrist lined out to right field. Pinch-
hitter Eric Hinske swung through a low pitch to strike out, and the Phillies
piled on top of each other near the mound in celebration. The Phillies were
here 15 years ago, but lost to Toronto in the World Series. Now they will
celebrate with the rest of the city with a parade on Friday. Cole Hamels, who
went 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two World Series appearances was named the MVP of
the Fall Classic.

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks with
a right foot sprain sustained in Tuesday's season-opening 96-76 loss to the
Lakers. Oden, who missed his entire rookie season after a right knee injury,
suffered the injury in the first quarter. He underwent an MRI exam and CAT
scan on Wednesday that confirmed the mid-lateral sprain. Oden will not require
surgery. He went up for a rebound in the early stages of the first quarter
with Lakers forward Andrew Bynum draped over his back. Oden came down
awkwardly on his leg and bent his right foot back and to the inside. The 2007
No.1 overall draft pick didn't score and grabbed five rebounds in just under
13 minutes.

The Golden State Warriors have signed head coach Don Nelson to a contract
extension, the club announced Wednesday. Terms of the agreement were not
announced, but a San Jose newspaper reported over the weekend it was a
two-year deal worth $12 million. Nelson already had his option for the 2008-09
season picked up in March. The Warriors began their season Wednesday night
with a 108-103 home loss to New Orleans. Nelson, 68, is currently the second-
winningest coach in NBA history (1,280 wins), trailing only Lenny Wilkens
(1,332) on the league's all-time list. During his current stint with Golden
State, he has guided the Warriors to a combined 90-75 regular season record.
Last season under Nelson's watch, Golden State went 48-34, the team's best
record since 1993-94, but missed out on the playoffs. The Warriors went
42-40 the year prior and made the playoffs as the eighth seed in the West,
upsetting the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the
postseason.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy said Wednesday that he expects safety
Bob Sanders and running back Joseph Addai back for this Sunday's game against
the New England Patriots. The Colts also expect cornerback Kelvin Hayden to
return to action, Dungy said Wednesday. Sanders, the reigning Defensive Player
of the Year, has missed five games since spraining his right ankle in
Indianapolis' 18-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings on September 14. The Colts
defensive star also underwent arthroscopic surgery on one of his knees while
recovering from the ankle sprain. Addai has missed two weeks with a hamstring
injury, while Hayden has been out for three weeks with a knee injury.

Quarterback Brad Johnson will make his third straight start Sunday against
Dallas' NFC East nemesis, the New York Giants, Cowboys head coach Wade
Phillips announced Wednesday. There was speculation that third-string
quarterback Brooks Bollinger would get the call after Dallas scored a combined
27 points in the last two contests without Tony Romo, who has been sidelined
because a broken pinkie finger on his throwing hand. Johnson, 40, has
completed 36-of-67 passes for 356 yards with two touchdowns and three
interceptions this season for the Cowboys (5-3). Cowboys tight end Jason
Witten missed practice Wednesday due to a fractured rib, leaving his status in
doubt if he'll play in Sunday's game.

===

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not play in Sunday's home
game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to continued weakness in his right
leg stemming from a bulging disc in his back. That means Seneca Wallace gets
the start for the third consecutive game. Hasselbeck visited a back surgeon in
Los Angeles on Monday and was not able to walk on his heels, one of the leg
strength tests. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Hasselbeck's status is on a
week-to-week basis.

The Carolina Panthers signed kicker John Kasay to a four-year contract
extension on Wednesday, meaning that the last member of the club's original
expansion roster could play in Carolina through the 2012 season. Kasay, 39,
has made 21 consecutive field goals, including a 16-of-16 performance this
season for the NFC South-leading Panthers. The 18-year veteran has not missed
a field goal since December 16 of last season. His two field goals in
Carolina's 27-23 win over Arizona on Sunday moved him past Jan Stenerud and
into eighth place in NFL history with 374 field goals. A fourth-round pick out
of Georgia by the Seattle Seahawks in 1991, Kasay was signed away from Seattle
by the Panthers prior to their debut season in 1995.

The National Hockey League announced Wednesday that it has pushed its trade
deadline back one day, to March 4, 2009. General managers will have until 3:00
p.m. (et) on March 4 to make deals, a day later than originally scheduled. The
decision was apparently made by the league in conjunction with the NHL
Players' Association because there are 12 games scheduled for March 3, but
only two on March 4.
