World Series (Best-of-seven)
----------------------------
Ryan Howard homered twice and drove in five runs, and Joe Blanton hit his
first major league homer and had seven strikeouts over six-plus dominating
innings, powering the Phillies to a 10-2 victory over Tampa Bay in Game 4 of
the World Series. Blanton belted a solo homer in the fifth inning, Howard
added a three-run blast in the fourth and a two-run shot in the eighth, and
Jayson Werth clubbed a two-run homer in the eighth. Ahead 3-1 in the best-of-
seven series, the Phillies need one win for their second title, with the other
coming in 1980. Philadelphia hasn't had a major sports title since 1983 when
the 76ers won the NBA championship. Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 and scored
three times for the Phillies, who headed into Sunday 2-for-33 with runners in
scoring position. They went 4-for-14 in those situations in Game 4.
The Phillies acquired Blanton (1-0) from Oakland on July 17, and the right-
hander has been a pleasant surprise, going 6-0 since then. That includes a
pair of playoff victories. He allowed four hits and two runs, on homers to
Carl Crawford and Eric Hinske, before departing in the seventh. Andy
Sonnanstine (0-1) was lifted after giving up six hits and five runs -- three
earned -- through four innings for the Rays. The Phillies will have their ace
on the mound for Monday's Game 5 in 24-year- old Cole Hamels, while the Rays
go with fellow lefty Scott Kazmir in a pitching rematch of the opener. Hamels,
who won Game 1, is 4-0 with a 1.55 earned-run average in the 2008 playoffs.

Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron has reportedly agreed to a three-year
contract extension. According to a report by the NFL Network, Jauron, who was
named the 14th head coach in Bills franchise history on January 23, 2006, will
be extended through the 2011 season. Jauron started his career with the Bills
as defensive assistant in 1985 and was the head coach of the Chicago Bears
from 1999-2003. Prior to the season he had a career record of 50-67. Buffalo,
which lost 25-16 to Miami on Sunday, is 5-2 this season and tied with New

Drew Brees threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns to lead the New Orleans
Saints to a 37-32 victory over the San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium in
London in the NFL's latest international showcase game. Brees did just that,
showcasing a potent Saints passing game on 30-of-41 completions in facing his
former team for the first time since the Chargers allowed him to walk via
free agency following the conclusion of the 2005 season. Lance Moore, Mark
Campbell and Devery Henderson each caught a TD while Deuce McAllister ran for
55 yards and a score on 18 carries for the Saints (4-4), who needed a win to
remain within striking distance in a well-stocked NFC South. Last week's
lopsided loss to the division-rival Panthers dropped New Orleans two games
back of Carolina, which upended Arizona earlier Sunday. Philip Rivers was
equally impressive under center, throwing for 341 yards and three scores
on 25-of-40 attempts with one costly interception. LaDainian Tomlinson
rushed for 105 yards on 19 carries and caught five passes for 65 yards and
a TD. Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson also nabbed scoring throws for
the Chargers (3-5), who have now dropped two straight after an impressive
victory over New England in Week 6.

Roy Williams scored his first touchdown as a Cowboy, and the Dallas defense
made a crucial stop in the last minute to give the Cowboys a 13-9 victory over
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Texas Stadium. Brad Johnson, who was starting for
the injured Tony Romo for the second straight week, completed 19-of-33 passes
for 122 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys (5-3), who were coming off two
straight losses, including a brutal 34-14 defeat at the hands of the St. Louis
Rams. Marion Barber ran for 71 yards on 25 carries, and Terrell Owens led the
Cowboys in receiving yards with 33 on five catches. Dallas used the victory to
keep pace in the NFC East with both Philadelphia and Washington also getting
wins Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts aim for their eighth straight Monday night victory when
they try to knock off unbeaten Tennessee on the Titans' home field. The Colts
have beaten the Titans in four of the past five meetings, but their
stranglehold on the AFC South, which stands at four seasons, can pretty much
be put to an end. The Colts are 3-3, and Peyton Manning will try to send the
Titans to a loss in their first Monday night home game since December 13,
2004. Meanwhile, the Titans aim for their first 7-0 start in franchise
history. They've won nine straight regular season games, the longest current
streak in the league.

victory was Edwards' seventh of the season and the 14th of his Sprint Cup
Series career. Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch completed the top-
five. Johnson stretched his lead in the championship standings to 183 over
