RACERS CLINCH TIE FOR OVC TITLE
The Murray State Racers scored a 3-1 victory Sunday in Ohio Valley Conference Soccer over Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky. and stayed in first place in the league at 5-1, while improving their 2008 mark to 9-5-2. The Racers scored early and had a 3-0 lead by the half. "It was great to see a couple different people score today," MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman said. "I think we came in with the right mental attitude today." The Racers out-shot the Colonels 15-13 for the game and led 10-6 in shots on goal. Tara Isbell got the win in goal for MSU as she made five saves. The win means the Racers can clinch the OVC regular season title Friday at home against Austin Peay. The Racers host the Govs at 3 p.m. at Cutchin Field. The match against TTU on Sunday Oct. 26 will also be senior day for MSU soccer as Rebekah Clay, Melisa Curry, Jane Dewitt, Krista Muilkens, and Kellyn Robison play their final regular season home game.

TURNER SIGNS CBA DEAL
The minor-league East Kentucky Miners are hoping the signing of a former University of Kentucky star combined with entertainment can entice fans to their games this season. Miners' coach Kevin Keathley says the signing of former Wildcat legend Wayne Turner will bring out fans curious about the Continental Basketball Association team. Turner's presence along with theme nights for promotions, a mascot and halftime contests and performances should boost ticket sales, said Brian Levy, the marketing director for the team. Levy said the team is considering a University of Kentucky night in an effort to draw die-hard Wildcat fans to the games.
